Performance description
The Orthodox Christmas celebrations begin according to the Julian calendar on 6 January and last for two whole weeks. There are many traditions associated with them, such as decorating Christmas trees, building nativity scenes and baking sweets. Dancers from the Ukraine have prepared an evening of music for children and adults to mark the occasion.
Spectators can look forward to an interactive children's show, Time of Childhood*, inspired by Christmas customs and traditional games, accompanied by an art workshop to keep the children's visitors entertained during the second part of the programme.
The subsequent production *Together Alone will introduce you to the ever-present Ukrainian theme – the trauma, uncertainty and fears that are part and parcel of the lives of people who have fled their occupied homeland for a foreign land.
