Performance description
A man dressed in a glam style manipulates thirty iron kettlebells. Dealing with the awkwardness forces his body into a new shape with every movement. This play results in a fragile, ever-expanding composition implying effort and collapse. Girevik* challenges the historically hyper-masculine aura around the kettlebell and seeks an alternative poetics of labour.
Roman Škadra is a Slovak circus maker currently living in Berlin. In his work, various techniques merge to investigate the relationship between body and object. His performances are centred around absurdity and intense physical exertion. He draws inspiration from literature, visual art, sports, or human labour.
*The performance was created as part of the residency programme of Cirqueon - Centre for New Circus. The project is supported by the National Recovery Plan.*
*Suitable for the viewers over 10 years.
