Description

The open workshop is a creative meeting where we cultivate practical tools for development and support of a human animal.

Through the practice we are aiming to spark curiosity and excitement about exploration of our body in action and how our movement, behaviour, thinking patterns, emotions and perception influence and shape each other.

The content of the workshops is based on the Fighting Monkey Practice. Our students are also our research partners with whom we are sharing important principles that can and should be applied to their situation and challenges.

The workshop is also a part of a yearly open study cycle (see the schedule below).

Together with a group of enthusiastic practitioners we will be moving, communicating and engaging in creation of a learning environment that can help everyone to:

RECEIVE FEEDBACK - Understand better who we are, how is our bodily structure and how do we learn and adapt

ACQUIRE PRACTICAL TOOLS - Games, practices and ideas to be able to enjoy working on what is needed without being dependent on a teacher

IMPROVE PREDICTIONS - Change our practices, behaviors and thinking models to open up towards more enjoyable future

The practice will revolve around following topics:

OPEN GAMES -Keep playing to stay sharp, mobile and excited till the old age

RHYTHM & COORDINATION - Learn to move better instead of repairing the body

CREATIVITY & AGENCY - Build your own practice, don't depend on masters

ACTION & PERCEPTION - How are we making sense out of the world through our body

MOVEMENT & COMMUNICATION - Move and sound as you

FOR WHOM IS IT?

We value variability and believe that the best learning comes from mixed groups. We welcome all people with interest and courage to keep playing; enthusiasts, coaches, artists, therapists, writers, teachers, craftsmen, engineers… It does not really matter. If you are willing to explore beyond ordinary and invest attention and care you will benefit from the practice.

The practice will be organised into weekend workshops so that we have enough space to share and experience the material, discuss with the group, digest it and look for useful applications.

TEACHERS:

Jakub is a practitioner and educator from the Czech Republic with a background in martial arts, dance and information technology. Since 2015 he has been studying closely with Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek within the Fighting Monkey. Movement and dance as the essential means of human communication, expression and development form the core of his research and teaching. As a senior FM teacher he is looking how to create a meaningful practice and practical philosophy that will be supporting us in our ever changing life circumstances.

Eliska is a dancer, performer and movement teacher. She has studied various dance techniques at the Prague Dance Conservatory, Duncan Centre Conservatory and at the EPDM in Mexico. Since 2016 she has been sharing her experience from the dance world and the „Fighting Monkey Practice“ at various schools and academies. She keeps on with her education within the FM.

Jakub and Eliska enjoy working with a wide range of people - artists, athletes, healers, coaches and the general public, which helps to keep the practice alive by being tested and exposed to variability constantly. They have been leading workshops and courses in Europe, Asia and Americas.

FIGHTING MONKEY PRACTICE

Fighting Monkey is an applied practice for human development through movement founded by Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek. Since 2002 Linda and Jozef have been developing it through a deep study on cross motion analysis and with the aim to understand the principles of the human movement, communication and the aging process (www.fightingmonkey.net).

FM Practice research is centered around communication, physical dexterity and creative thinking and moving to be capable of solving real life problems and thrive in life.
